Monday Motivation: Healthy Chocolate Smoothie
February 3, 2020Sometimes I just absolutely dread Mondays…and I have no idea why! To help combat a case of the “Mondays” I always start my week off with this healthy chocolate smoothie. It’s perfect for your morning breakfast, or even as an afternoon pick me up snack. It contains Cacao (pronounced âcu-COWâ), which is derived from the Theobroma Cacao tree and is called this when referring to unprocessed versions of the cacao bean. You see, Cacao is a superfood. It contains 40 times the antioxidants of Blueberries, is the highest plant-based source of iron, is chock full of magnesium, has more calcium than cow’s milk and is a natural mood elevator and anti-depressant.
WHEW! That’s a lot of benefits…and no wonder it wipes away my case of the Mondays! Enjoy this healthy chocolate smoothie one morning this week and let me know what you think!
Healthy Chocolate Smoothie
INGREDIENTS
Before you begin, do not be alarmed that the end result will have a bit of a green color to it! You will not even taste it! I promise!
- 2 cups almond milk (click the link to learn how I make my own!)
- 1 cup of kale, spinach or smoothie greens mix
- 2 frozen bananas
- 1 tbs organic Almond Butter
- 2 tbs organic Cacao Powder
INSTRUCTIONS
Add your liquid to the Vitamix or blender first. Then layer in your other ingredients in order from above. Blend until smooth, then enjoy!
Pro prep tip: Freeze all your bananas ahead of time, so you always have some on hand! Next, the night before prep all your ingredients into your Vitamix and store in the fridge. When youâre ready to blend, add your frozen banana, whatever liquid youâd like (I prefer almond milk or coconut milk) to the base of your blender or Vitamix and blend! Itâll save you time assembling all the ingredients!
