The Best Brunch Worthy Bloody Mary!

It’s a liquor-soaked nutritional breakfast and hangover cure all in one and it’s one of the few cocktails that is socially acceptable to drink first thing in the morning. I mean, what else could you ask for? Now, let’s roll back a few years to where I clearly remember my first Bloody Mary…because it was that stinking awful. You see, I was in a sorority in college and I’d been invited on a trip with one of the fraternity’s for a weekend getaway to Sunriver, Oregon. The boys were in charge of the booze and let’s just say none of them were bartenders with any skill (sorry guys!). The vodka burned (as cheap vodka does), the horseradish cleared my sinuses and I totally swore off Bloody Mary’s for the rest of time. That is, until I revisited this classic cocktail years later while brunching at Urban Farmer in downtown Portland. Oh me, oh my! Were those cocktails delish! I left thinking to myself, I was going to recreate theses brunch worthy Bloody Mary’s and share them with the world. So here we are. The original Bloody Mary is believed to have contained seven ingredients: vodka, tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, celery salt, Tabasco and lemon juice. And despite the endless variations and regardless of how you choose to make it, the Bloody Mary has long since claimed brunch as its host. Today, I’m letting you in on my special recipe for the perfect Bloody Mary. Cheers my friends!
Brunch Worthy Bloody Mary’s
INGREDIENTS
– Large green olives stuffed with garlic
– Celery
– Cooked shrimp
– Cooked bacon or candied bacon
– Ice
– Optional: Sea Salt to salt your rim
DIRECTIONS
In a pitcher, combine the horseradish, , , lemon zest, celery salt, kosher salt and 2 teaspoons ground pepper. Next add the and stir till well combined. Last, cover and refrigerate until chilled, at least 2 hours. I personally like doing this the night before so all of the yummy flavors marinate.
After your tomato juice mixture has marinated, pour it into 8 ice-filled rocks glasses and add about 2 ounces to each glass and stir. Have fun garnishing each drink with a celery stick, lime wedge, piece of bacon and a skewer filled with cooked shrimp, and olives! Serve immediately and enjoy!
