STAY
For this trip, we stayed at The Setting Inn Willamette Valley just outside of Newberg, Oregon. We had stayed at their sister property in Napa Valley and loved it, so we wanted to experience their newest location The Setting Inn Willamette Valley which is a eight room boutique inn located in the heart of Oregon wine country. As soon as we arrived, we settled right into the comfortable, luxurious vibe of the property; you could immediately tell they spared no small detail. Our room came complete with a Nespresso machine, hot water pot, Steven Smith Teamaker tea (my favorite!), plush robes, slippers, and Lather brand luxury bath amenities. Each evening for turn down, a sweet surprise greeted us on our pillow and each morning a Euro meets the Northwest brunch box was delivered to our room in a custom wine box. Our brunch box included a can or Oregon Sparkling wine, orange juice, fresh pastries from Pearl Bakery, yummy cheese from Briar Rose Creamery, salami from Olympia Provisions and fresh organic fruit. It was delicious and easily my favorite part of our day!
On the first night we arrived, we decided to unwind by their cozy courtyard fire pit with a glass of wine to watch the sunset before we headed out to dinner. Located between Chehalem and Dundee AVAs the view was easily the best part of the entire property, though I bet the hubs would challenge me and say his favorite was the fully renovated barn and lounge where we found ourselves cozying up by the fire playing board games each night. The only thing we did not take advantage of during our stay was the full onsite bocce court…but we went ahead an scheduled our next stay for June so that the weather would be perfect for a spirited game! Stay tuned for an updated blog post from the next time we stay!
On our last morning at The Setting Inn Willamette Valley I decided to go for a quick walk around the property before hitting their onsite gym for a quick workout while the hubs had a few conference calls. It was beyond peaceful exploring their ten-acre property which included calming lavender, tall Cyprus, northwest fruit trees, and even a test vineyard with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc. It was idyllic and I cannot wait to come back!

We started our adventure in Eugene and headed north up I5 towards the Wilsonville where we cut over and headed to our first stop, Alloro Vineyard. Easily our favorite winery in the Chehalem Mountains, Alloro recently opened a brand new Tasting House to provide guests with the ultimate experience to enjoy their single-vineyard Estate wines. We opted for their Tasting Experience which included a taste of five wines (all of which were delicious!) and enjoyed their Cheese and Charcuterie board and house-made Bruschetta alongside. Our host Daniel (who was simply one of the most amazing humans!) walked us through each one of the wines, carefully educating us on where they were grown and the variables which would contribute to their taste profile. If you’re heading to wine country in the near future, add Alloro Vineyard as a MUST VISIT. I personally cannot wait to go back to enjoy a tasting during the summer months so I can fully take advantage of their outdoor patio! Just please be sure to make reservations ahead of town and bring your vaccination card!
The second day of our Oregon wine country adventure we headed out to Lenné Estate, a quick 15 minute drive from The Setting Inn Willamette Valley. Their delicious Oregon Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are entirely estate-grown, on their 15.5 acre hillside vineyard which features a south-facing slope at the perfect elevation and orientation for growing a concentrated, densly-flavored Pinot Noir. We had the best time chatting with Manager Eric and especially enjoyed their Eleanor Pinot Noir which we took home to enjoy a bottle of.
In the afternoon we headed out to Durant Vineyard at Red Ridge Farms. It had been a while since we had visited and were excited to try their latest release of Chardonnay, Rosé, and Pinot Noirs. They are also Oregon’s premier Olive Oil producer and I often will order their Durant Olive Mill oil to enjoy at home, give as gifts or ship to friends and family, it’s the BEST! During our visit we enjoyed a Cheese and Charcuterie board complete with some splashes of their olive oil.

One evening for dinner we found ourselves heading into the small nearby town of Carlton. The perfect place to spend the day leisurely strolling from boutique shops to artisan wineries. Carlton is a hidden gem in Oregon wine country. We enjoyed dinner our first evening at Cuveè, a delicious French-inspired bistro where I ordered their steak and frites complete with Créme Brulée for dessert! For our second evening we checked out a local favorite, Park and Main which is a casual wood fired pizza, sandwich and craft ice creamery! We ordered a pear, gorgonzola and prosciutto pizza, fire roasted brussel sprouts, and a beet salad before over-indulging in their homemade bacon and maple ice cream! So yummy!
