As soon as the air turns crisp, I begin craving this cocktail. It’s like clock work. Just thinking of it takes me back to when I first discovered this little gem. I was living in Lake Oswego, and within walking distance of my townhouse was this quaint little Irish pub. One gorgeous fall afternoon I decided to take a stroll and ended sidled up to the bar, ordering this drink. It was so simple and so delicious, I decided to try making it myself and it was so easy, it’s become one of my go-to warm cocktails. Introducing my favorite fall cocktail, the Hot Toddy! I hope you enjoy! Cheers!
HOT TODDY RECIPE
INGREDIENTS
– 1 oz Makers Mark
– 1 tablespoon mild organic honey
– 2 teaspoons fresh organic lemon juice (usually 1/2 a lemon)
– 1/4 cup boiling-hot water
– 1 whole clove
– 1 cinnamon stick
– nutmeg
DIRECTIONS
First, fill your mug (love these!) with hot water to warm the cup. Let sit about one minute, before dumping out. Next, add your Makers Mark, honey, and lemon juice to the mug, then top off with hot water and stir until honey is dissolved. Spice it with the cloves and cinnamon, and put in a slice of lemon. Let the mixture stand for 2-4 minutes so the flavors can mingle, then sprinkle with a pinch of nutmeg before serving. Enjoy!
