Luxury Staycation at Inn at the 5th in Eugene, Oregon!
October 7, 2020We are all creatures of habit. We shop at the same stores, and usually on the same days. When we head out to buy coffee, we visit the same shop, at the same time and we order the same thing. When friends are in town we take them to the bars and restaurants we already like. And when we go out for date nights, we generally go to the same one or two restaurants in town. This isn’t at all a bad thing! But occasionally it’s good to shake and spice things up! And that’s how we ended up deciding to break free of the mold and treat ourselves to a one night luxury staycation. Luxury Staycation at Inn at the 5th
Before we made a firm decision, I did quite a bit of research making sure our destination of choice had extensive safety measures in place, respected social distancing in all regards, and would allow us to stay mostly in our little bubble yet still have the luxurious escape of a real vacation. And so it was confirmed: an overnight at the Inn at the 5th!
A WARM WELCOME + SETTLING INTO OUR ROOM
The Inn at the 5th definitely knows how to make a first impression. From the moment we pulled up and enter the lobby, we were warmly greeted by staff. Tyler and I were provided with beer and wine at check-in before we headed up to our room on the 4th floor. Everyone was wearing masks, staying socially distanced and we felt very comfortable.
We chose to stay in a Balcony King room, which I highly recommend. The layout provides for a European-style patio overlooking the city, an expansive master bedroom and master bath, along with a custom built butler pantry for in-room dining delivery! As soon as we walked into our room, I opened our balcony door and settled right in with my glass of wine and enjoyed the view.
The Inn at the 5th knows that the difference is in the details, so I could not help but appreciate the little touches in the hotel room that made it stand above the rest. From the elegant bathroom with walk-in shower and Aveda bath amenities to the fireplace and custom Italian linens, there was no shortage of amenities that made our stay as comfortable and luxurious as could be!
HITTING THE GYM
Something the hubs and I have both been missing tremendously since Covid19 started was working out in a gym! We were so pleased to find out that the gym would be open during our stay, and it was appointment only to allow for cleaning in-between guests! We were able to book an appointment and both get in a great workout (twice!) while we were there. The gym itself is was well lit, extremely clean and spacious, with ample cardio machines and weights.
DINNER + A NIGHTCAP AT MARCHÉ
One thing I was definitely looking forward to during our stay was walking to dinner at Marché, which is right next to the Inn at the 5th. We made reservations for around 7:00 pm, got ready and headed down. We sat outside on the patio, enjoyed a few cocktails (I ordered the Little Getaway cocktail! Yum!) with oysters on the half and the Pancetta Pizzetta for appetizers before ordering our entrees. Tyler ordered the burger with Oregon blue cheese and Heirloom Tomato and while I opted for the Niçoise salad (my favorite!).
Make reservations ahead of time! We were glad we did because it was extremely busy and there was a little bit of a wait. The front desk at The Inn at the 5th will gladly help you with this.
ENJOYING BREAKFAST
In the morning, after we went for a hike to see the sunrise (more on that later!) and ordered breakfast from Provisions. Mmmmmm! The coffee, pastries, breakfast sandwich and avocado toast, was all incredible! In fact, I’m still dreaming about that avocado toast and almond croissant…. But that wasn’t even the best part! Since we were staying in the hotel, we simply ordered online at ProvisionsMarketHall.com, noted that we were staying at the hotel, included our room number and Provisions staff dropped it at the front desk, who brought it up and left it in our Butler Pantry. It was so incredibly nice, and made breakfast very easy! I wish I had access to that kind of service everyday!
THINGS TO DO
THE MARKET WINE TOUR
We knew we wanted to take full advantage of our stay at the Inn at the 5th and the surrounding area, so before we checked in we headed downtown a bit early to take the self-guided “Market Wine Tour“! A few of our very favorite wineries have urban tastings rooms, in fact there are four different wineries on the tour to enjoy a tasting, glass or bottle. Our first stop was J. Scott Cellars on 5th where we sat in the window of the roll up door and enjoyed a glass of wine together. The weather was perfect and it was a great way to kick off our staycation!
BOUTIQUE SHOPPING AT THE 5TH STREET PUBLIC MARKET
After we enjoyed our time at J. Scott Cellars on 5th, we headed across the street to do a little shopping at the 5th Street Public Market. For our anniversary the hubs gifted me a Pendleton Beach Towel for two and I was excited to pick it out at the Pendleton store at the Market. I ended up choosing the “Point Reyes” print. LOVE!
We then headed over to Will Leather, as Tyler has been searching high and low for a new wallet. We ended up finding this leather front pocket Bison card case which is perfect for everyday and especially when you travel (since you never want to carry your wallet in your back pocket while traveling!).
REJUVENATE AT THE ONSITE SPA
Biggest regret during our Inn at the 5th staycation was not booking a massage pre-arrival at the onsite spa, Gervais, which is my favorite spa in Eugene! In fact, I regularly come every month to get pedicures, facials and massages. I love their massage therapists and estheticians, and definitely think they have the nicest spa in town. If you book any treatment here, you will not regret it!
HIKE SKINNER’S BUTTE
Before we went to sleep, I told the hubs we needed to get up early so we could see sunrise at Skinner’s Butte…and we did just that! It’s by far the best time to go, as there are zero crowds and it’s the perfect, most relaxing way to begin your morning.
TAKE A WALK ALONG THE RIVER
After we watched the sunrise we decided to hike down and walk along the river, as Skinner’s Butte Park has some of the most beautiful walking and biking paths in Eugene. We headed towards Alton Baker Park and walked about a 2 miles loop which took us right back to the steps of the Inn at the 5th.
LUNCH AT THE EATERIES
After we checked out, but before we headed home, we decided to grab lunch to-go at the Eateries inside the 5th Street Public Market. We’re both huge fans of Cafe Glendi and Thai Spice, so we ordered one entree from each to share for lunch. It was the perfect end to our little staycation!
I am so happy we decided to treat ourselves and take a one night luxury staycation at Inn at the 5th here in Eugene, it was the perfect way to recharge and reconnect! Have you ever taken a staycation before? Where did you go? I’m definitely on the lookout for our next little adventure so leave it in the comments below!
