Happy Monday everyone! Several weeks ago, one of you asked me to share what is on my weekly grocery list. Our grocery list is always changing with what might be in season, or even on sale that week, so I figured I would share with you the eight staple items we purchase each week! Although, one thing that never changes is the quality of products. We really try to always purchase organic, non-gmo products because we’ve noticed a HUGE difference in how our bodies feel when we eat clean and toxin free. Grocery Edition
First, the hubs and I are big fans of Whole Foods, Natural Grocers and a local grocery store called Fred Meyers (also known as Ralphs in other parts of the country) for our local shopping, but we do a majority of our shopping on Amazon and through Thrive Market for organic, GMO- free goods and pantry items. For cleaning supplies and household goods through we purchase everything through Grove, which only sells natural household and personal care products. We feel extra good knowing everything is environmentally safe, and all the research has been done for us.
ANYWAY! Here are the EIGHT staple items we purchase each week!
Organic Chicken Broth
Tons of recipes I have in my arsenal call for chicken stock and this is organic option is one of my favorites. However, recently I’ve been swapping my chicken stock, for organic chicken bone broth because of all the extra nutrients and vitamins, including calcium, phosphorous and magnesium.
Raw Almond Butter
Every morning I make a smoothie to start our day. Instead of using store-bought almond milk, I create my own almond milk by putting a tablespoon of raw, organic almond butter and 4 cups of water into the blender, then blend on high for 1 minute before adding all the rest of my smoothie ingredients. It’s so much more healthier and so easy! We hardly notice a different in taste either.
Meat & Seafood
The town we live in does not have many options for purchasing organic, humane meats and wild caught seafood. A lot of times we will pick up these items when we go to a larger city nearby, but this is not always the most convenient. Recently, I purchased Thrive Market’s “Build Your Own Meat & Seafood Box” and we LOVED it. It was really reasonably priced, we knew exactly what we were purchasing and the quality was very high. It came frozen, and we were able to quickly throw it into the freezer as soon as it arrived and use what we needed. The box we purchased lasted us over a month and it was the perfect solution!
Lemons
Fresh lemons are a staple in our house. I have them sliced in our refrigerator at all times so they are easy to add to hot water in the morning, squeeze into our smoothies and even add to dinner in the evening… Lemons are so healthy for you! Lemons contain a high amount of vitamin C, soluble fiber, and reduce your risk of heart disease, anemia, kidney stones, digestive issues, and cancer!
Sweet Potatoes
We LOVE sweet potatoes. We will usually chop them up nice and thin and roast them in the oven to make “fries” or we will use them to make this amazing Curried Lentil Sweet Potato dish which is our favorite meal ever!
Avocados
I eat avocado toast probably five times a week – no joke. And if I’m not eating avocados on top of toast, then I’m slicing it open, drizzling it with olive oil and sea salt and eating it straight from the shell. Avocados are so delicious and so healthy!
Organic, Dark Leafy Greens
One thing thatâs always on our shopping list is dark leafy greens. We eat greens every single day by throwing a few handfuls into our green smoothie every morning!
Mixed Nuts
We love this snack mix! It is so good and we always have a few bags of it in our pantry so we do not run out. The mix includes raw organic nuts and berries with almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, mac nuts, walnuts, cranberries and raisins. I will sometimes buy a bag of chocolate chips and mix it in for the perfect healthy snack!
A few other weekly staples are organic dark chocolate, organic pasture-raised eggs, bananas, olive oil, seeds to make these seed bars, green tea, peppermint tea, and organic vegetables.
I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek of our weekly grocery list!
Enjoy!
Happy Monday!
XO,
M
