So You Say You Love Vodka? Vodka Cocktails.
June 10, 2021So you say you love vodka?! Well, first things first, I cannot stress enough how important a good quality vodka is in any drink you decide to make. Honestly, the quality of the product will either make or break your drink (gut rot anyone?). So choosing wisely is important! I’ve included a few of my favorite top quality vodka brands below to help you narrow it down, but for today, I’ll be using my absolute favorite vodka Deep Eddy Vodka. Now, I have a few tried and true basic vodka cocktail recipes that I am sharing below and let me tell you the first recipe is seriously so basic, I’m betting you have all the ingredients at home! And the second recipe is one of my all time vodka cocktails, the Moscow Mule.
THE BEST VODKA
Deep Eddy Vodka (Plain Vodka is GF, double check for yourself on the flavors: Lemon, Ruby, Peach are the BEST! Made in Austin, TX)
Chopin Vodka (GF, small distillery in Poland and they use potatoes sourced in small batch, supporting local farmers)
Haku (GF, made with rice and filtered over charcoal bamboo)
Headwind (GF) (Local to Portland, Oregon!)
WHAT DO I MIX IT WITH?
Vodka mixes great with many juices and liquors and makes for a simple but delicious cocktail. For the most part, it’s also the easiest spirit to flavor with other ingredients.
You might be wondering, what other ingredients you can mix with vodka and truthfully since vodka is a neutral grain spirit, it pretty much goes with ANYTHING. Though, here are some of my favorite “mixers” or, non-alcoholic ingredients, that are great mixed with vodka and served over ice:
– any citrus juice or juice (orange, lime, pineapple, cranberry, lemonade)
– ginger beer (Fever-Tree is by far the best!)
– soda water (Q Soda Water)
– flavored soda water (LaCroix, Spindrift – if you have not tried this brand, it’s AMAZING!)
THE BEST VODKA COCKTAIL RECIPES
Below are two of my tried and true Vodka Cocktail Recipes. Delicious and easy.
THE TWISTY VODKA COCKTAIL
INGREDIENTS
- 1.5 oz. vodka (any of the above brands will work!)
- 4.5 oz. juice (any of the above mentioned kinds will work!)
- 2 handfuls of ice, divided
- splash Q Soda Water
- wedge of lemon, lime or orange
INSTRUCTIONS
First, fill a cocktail glass with ice and set aside. Next, place vodka, your choice of juice, and a handful of ice into a cocktail shaker and then shake until well combined. Usually about 15 hard shakes. Strain your cocktail into your glass prepped with ice and then add a splash of your soda water. Garnish with a citrus wedge such as lime, lemon, or orange! CHEERS!
MOSCOW MULE RECIPE

- 1/2 oz. lime juice, freshly squeezed or this organic lime juice
- 6 oz. Fever- Tree ginger beer
