Long flights and missed connections can leave you feeling stressed out, unglamorous and totally gross. Thankfully, many products these days come in a mini version, perfect for travel and beauty on the go. After years of jet-setting, I’ve finally narrowed down the best beauty items for travel. These are the items I never travel without, and always are in my carry-on. All of these travel-sized beauty products are compact, and compliant with the TSA 3-1-1 rule (which means that fluids and gels should be under 100ml or 3.4. fl oz in volume while powders should be under 350 ml or 12 Oz). I’m excited to share my beauty finds with you!
Face
The skin on my face has a tendency to really show me who is boss when traveling. The following products I’ve found finally, finally, keep my skin in check and looking radiant.
Thayers Witch Hazel Mist Travel Size – My skin literally hates me whenever I travel. I used to break out every time I went somewhere new with a different climate than at home.. that is until I found this stuff. I will spray this on my face, right after I wash my face both in the morning and night. It’s really helped me keep my complexion break-out free. I use this stuff on the daily.
Shishedo Awaken Energy Beauty Reboot Travel Set – I fell in LOVE with the cleansing foam and softener and use it daily, morning and night. I was ecstatic to find that it was available in this travel kit with the eye cream and face moisturizer (which I use only at night) as well!
Here are links to the full sized items in the kit: Shisheido Clarifying Cleansing Foam, Shisheido Treatment Softener, Shiseido Essential Energy Moisturizing Gel Cream, Shisheido Essential Energy Eye Definer
Cerave Ultra Light Face Moisturizer SPF 30 – There is only one thing I hate more than a heavy moisturizer and that’s my face feeling uber greasy two hours after I put on my makeup. This stuff ultra light face moisturizer sinks right into my skin, perfectly priming it for my make up. Bonus: My makeup actually stays on all day long now, no matter if it’s humid and hot or freezing cold. I use this stuff on the daily.
Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelette Singles – I literally throw a handful of these into my purse and toiletry bag. They are great for removing all the excess dirt and oil from your face prior to cleansing and they take no-room.
Makeup
No matter where I travel to, there are a few makeup staples that always come along. These I’ve found are my tried and true. No matter what the weather, they always stay put and look good.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup – You can thank me later, but this is hands down the BEST foundation I have ever used. It covers, it conceals.. it even doubles up as a concealer if you layer it in certain areas. It goes on smoothly, and stays on all day.
Hourglass Veil Translucent Powder – I cannot remember life before this powder. I use it to set my Estee Lauder Foundation and it creates the most beautiful air brushed finish on my skin. Sold.
L’Oréal Paris Makeup Voluminous Lash Boosting Conditioning Primer Mascara – Traveling or not, you need to buy this eye lash primer. It is AMAZING. My eye lashes have never been so long and healthy and when I combine it with the mascara I linked below, my eyelashes look a million miles long!
Covergirl Professional Super Thick Lash – It took me forever to find a mascara that wouldn’t be flaking off onto my cheeks by the end of the day, or be watering down my face from rain or humidity. This was it and combined with the above primer. I’m winning in the eyelash category.
Hair
Depending on where you’re traveling to, the weather can really mess with your hair. The following hair care items have helped me keep my locks tame and under control – no matter where I’m traveling!
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo – If I’m trying to avoid washing my hair every day, this is the best dry shampoo I’ve ever used. It wicks away the oil and leaves my hair feeling refreshed and smelling great!
Living Proof Flex Shaping Hairspray – Whether I’m curling my hair or wearing it straight, this stuff keeps my style all day long.
Living Proof T.B.D. Multi-Tasking Styler Styling Cream – I LOVE this stuff. I will put this in my hair while it’s still damp, right before I blow dry and it helps hold my style and combat frizziness. It’s great for travel anywhere, but it especially shines when traveling to super humid areas. I also use this sometimes after I’ve styled to give my curls a more piece-y look.
Oribe Bright Blonde Shampoo – If you’re a blonde like me then you know a week or so into your travels, your hair begins to look dull and lack luster from all the hotel shampoo. That’s why I bring this brightening shampoo along with me! It keeps my hair looking shiny and bright.
Wet Brush – This brush has been a total game changer for me with brushing my hair. It combats even the toughest knots in your hair and glides through them gently without damage or pulling hair out. It’s amazing! I cannot say enough good things.
Body
Native Deodorant – I love, love, love this deodorant. I swapped to this a few months ago and it’s not only amazing at keeping me dry and smelling good, it’s chemical free, gluten free, organic and cruelty free. It’s also a “solid” so it travels well and doesn’t leak all over my stuff.
Fork & Melon Travel Sized Hand & Body Lotion – I hate using junk on my body, and this organic lotion smells good, has a great consistency and is perfect for travel!
Coola Organic Sunscreen – I had such a difficult time finding a product that I liked which was organic and didn’t look white and pasty when I put it on. This is my favorite (so far).
To keep all my favorite travel beauty items together and organized, I’ve curated my essential travel gear guide. This guide highlights all the gear I never leave the house without when hitting the road.
