The Best Coffee and Brown Sugar Face Scrub
On a recent trip to Nordstroms to stock up on all my makeup favorites, one of the beauty counters was giving away a free sample of Fresh Sugar Face Polish. When I got home and gave it a try… I was hooked. That is, until my little sample container ran out and I went online to reorder it. Let’s just say that one ounce of this little magic jar was a bit more than I was willing to spend for a thrice weekly exfoliant.
Anyway, I was pretty convinced I could find an alternative and began researching similar face scrubs. I did not end up finding a comparable product, but what I did find was even better! A “Make Your Own” face scrub recipe, which I’m obsessed with. It’s totally amazing and has completely transformed my skin. In fact, I love it so much I pack a small jar to take along with me on trips.
Enjoy!
Recipe
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup fresh or dried ground coffee
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup melted coconut oil
Use fine grounds, as the coarse kind can be too harsh.
Instructions
- Mix together 1/2 cup fresh ground coffee and 1/2 cup brown sugar.
- Add 1/2 cup coconut oil into the coffee mixture.
- Mix until well combined.
- Gently rub the mixture over your face—avoiding areas around the eyes. Leave it on for several minutes. Rinse thoroughly.
Try using this in the shower and for your entire body, however be careful not to slip from the coconut oil!
Benefits For The Skin
– The caffeine found in coffee scrubs helps increase blood flow, may reduce the appearance of cellulite and gives your skin a more even tone
– Coconut oil is a great skin softener
– Coconut oil can delay signs of aging and is filled with antioxidant properties
– Sugar contains glycolic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid that is crucial for maintaining healthy skin.
