An Easy Friday Night Cocktail Classic, The Negroni
April 3, 2020Last year the hubs and I went to Negroni Week in Portland, Oregon, which is a week-long celebration of the cocktail, held in June to raise money for charities. Honestly, I had never had a Negroni prior to this event, so I was not entirely sure what to expect, however, it was all for a good cause, so I was excited to try something new! A bitter and rich classic cocktail, it is a perfect sipping cocktail, something to take your time enjoying, and you can make it in a large batch which keeps since there are no added juices, etc. Just make sure to store it in the refrigerator! I hope you enjoy this easy Friday Night Cocktail classic, the Negroni. It has definitely become one of our favorites!
Ingredients:
1.5 oz. Sipsmith Gin
1 oz. Sweet vermouth Carpano Antica
1 oz. Campari
1 organic orange for the rind
Directions:
Combine all the ingredients in a mixing glass and fill with ice and stir. Strain over a large ice rock (we love this trays!) into a double old-fashioned glass. Peel off a few slices of orange rind (this is the best peeler!) and flame one orange rind over cocktail.
Pro tip: For the best Negroni, always store your vermouths in the fridge. Remember they are a wine and will oxidize if left out.
Batching: You can easy make this in a large batch, just make sure to store in an airtight glass bottle and keep in the fridge.
