I was chatting with a friend on the phone the other day and I was telling her about some of the cocktails we have been making lately! She wanted the recipe for this from-scratch margarita and when I got to the part about it including Simple Syrup – she asked if she could find that at the liquor store. The easy answer is yes, you can absolutely buy it at the liquor store, but it’s also extremely easy to make at home! Today, I’m sharing this easy Simple Syrup recipe with you for all your at-home cocktail making recipes!
EASY SIMPLE SYRUP RECIPE
If you can boil water, you can make this easy simple syrup. The staple cocktail sweetener, consists of equal-parts granulated sugar and water and the best part is that from there, the variations can be endless. If you like your sweetener sweeter, simply up the ratio to two to one, sugar to water. Looking to add a little zip to your cocktail of choice? Steep a couple of jalapeĂąo slices or cinnamon sticks while cooking down your sugar in the water.
My favorite part is that your homemade simple syrup, once sealed and refrigerated, can live a happy, productive life for up to a month!
INGREDIENTS
– 1 cup granulated cane sugar
– 1 cup water
DIRECTIONS
Add the sugar and water to a small saucepan (love this pan!) over medium heat. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Let cool, then pour into a glass jar ( I like these jars because they are easy to pour from) and seal tightly with a lid. Simple syrup will keep, refrigerated, for about one month.
