A BLONDE VINTAGE

The Gin Gimlet has always been a favorite of mine, ever since I was a young 21 year old thing and was spoiled with my very first craft cocktail by the cocktail master himself, Jeffrey Morgenthaler. You see, I grew up in Eugene, Oregon and back in the day, Morgenthaler began his cocktail career there before moving to Portland. Little did I realize how spoiled I had been by his genius when it came to a seriously delicious libation. So, when I set off to craft my own recipe, I finally found success with this recipe for a basil gimlet. It’s easy and delicious. It uses fresh basil, lime and simple syrup, and it’s a great gimlet recipe that you can easily make at home! Cheers!

Fresh Basil Gimlet

This delicious and simple fresh Basil Gimlet is a easy recipe you can make with a few ingredients. It's perfect to enjoy as a brunch cocktail or aperitif.

Equipment

• 1 Cocktail Shaker
• 1 Martini Glass

Ingredients

  

1x2x3x

• 5 large fresh basil leaves
• 1.5 oz gin
• 3/4 oz Fresh Lime Juice
• 1/2 oz Simple Syrup

Instructions

 

• First, put four basil leaves in the palm of your hand and clap your hands together (no lie!), and then place them in the bottom of a cocktail shaker and fill with ice.
• Next, add your gin, lime juice and simple syrup into your cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.
• Once shaken, strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass (love these with the gold rim!) or other small chilled glass. 
• Last, garnish with the remaining basil leaf and ENJOY!
