Simply The Best Scratch Margarita!
July 24, 2019Today is National Tequila Day and in celebration (I love any reason to drink a yummy cocktail!), I wanted to share with you simply the best scratch margarita recipe ever! It’s so simple, so versatile and so so delicious! I promise, once you make one of these, you’ll never go back to the old way and you’ll have your friends itching to get the recipe.
Now, if you’re used to margaritas from a mix, get ready to throw that all out the window. This recipe is how margaritas should be made and you won’t ever want a margarita from a mix again. Which is good, because mixes usually have a laundry list of ingredients you wouldn’t want to put in your body anyway and this margarita recipes taste a million times better.
Scratch Margarita Recipe
- 2 fl oz (1 shot and a half) Hornitos Tequila
- .75 fl oz (1/2 shot) Grand Marnier
- 1 fl ounce fresh lime juice (about one lime)
- .75 fl oz (1/2 shot) agave nectar or simple syrup
- Sea Salt
Place the tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, agave nectar and a wedge of squeezed lime in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously eight times, back and forth. Pour over a glass with a salted rim filled with ice and garnish with a lime wedge. You might also choose to serve this in a martini glass, up without ice.
Change it up! Add fresh strawberries, raspberries, mango or blueberries to your shaker for a fun fruit addition to your margarita. YUM!
