Take a trip to Italy with the Aperol Spritz!
April 8, 2021Every summer, it seems like I choose a new “drink of choice” and then I majorly fan girl all over it until one of two things happen. It becomes too cold to drink during the winter, or I burn out on it. Can you relate? Well, one drink I have yet to burn out on is this cocktail, an oldie but a goodie, the Aperol Spritz. Now, Italy has been perfecting the “Aperitivo Hour”, also known as “Spritz Hour” for decades and decades, and enjoying an Aperol Spritz while watching the sunset over the Amalfi coast was one of my favorite parts about vacationing in Italy. Today, I thought I’d share with you the recipe! Once you have your cocktail in hand, sit back, take a sip, close your eyes and take a trip to Italy! Cheers friends!
APEROL SPRITZ RECIPE
(Recipe makes one cocktail)
– 3 ounces (1 part) Aperol
– 3 ounces (1 part) high quality Prosecco or Sparkling Wine with a nice muted sweetness
– 1 ounce (a splash) Fever Tree Club Soda (make sure to use a high quality club soda like this one!)
– Orange slice, for garnish
DIRECTIONS
First things first, to be called a spritz, a drink needs only to loosely follow the formula: three parts bubbly, two parts bitter, one part soda. Add citrus.
To begin, fill a big wine glass with ice. Next, pour in the Aperol (I usually eyeball this and pour until I’ve filled about one-third of the glass). Now, pour in an equal amount of Prosecco, or another high quality Sparkling Wine. Last, top your drink off with a splash of club soda and add a slice of orange for garnish. Enjoy!
So easy right?!
