As I was packing for our beach trip this week to the coast, I realized there are some solid Oregon Coast beach essentials that we bring along for every single trip. In fact, most of these items even live in a special bag in my closet, specifically dedicated for “going to the coast”. And, because weather for the Oregon Coast seems to constantly surprise you, obviously you want to come prepared! So if you’re an Oregonian, or maybe planning a trip to the Oregon Coast in the near future and there is a chance you’ll be heading to the coast, consider book marking this page to make sure you remember to bring the essentials! I want to make sure your packed well for any beach you’ll be visiting along the Oregon Coast!
OREGON COAST ESSENTIALS
Coast Bag
You’ll want to make sure whatever you pack your coast essentials in is waterproof. I prefer to stow most of my items in a waterproof back pack cooler, so that if it takes a while to get to our spot, I’m still comfortable and one of my arms doesn’t feel like it’s about to fall off.
This YETI Cooler is my FAVORITE! We bought it last year for all our excursions and it easily fits 12 plus beverages and a few sandwiches for lunch! It’s light weight, durable and also pretty attractive.
Clothing
The weather along the coast can be gorgeous one moment, and breezy the next. That’s why it’s always a good idea to bring some layers with you! This past weekend it was HOT, but I still layered, layered, layered. I love a good light weight zipped hoodie, a cute trucker hat and some drawstring shorts for heading down to the beach on a warm day.
Beach
One thing to never leave home without is a good beach blanket or beach towel (this is the one we have!). The Oregon Coast is the perfect place to spread a blanket and hunker down, read a good book or just enjoy watching the ocean. These are my absolute favorite blankets and towels to bring along… I might be bias..because they are all Pendleton, a local Oregon company.
Accessories
Depending on your type of “coasting” some of these accessories might be necessary to pack along for the trip! The hubs and I love to spread a blanket, relax, drink some wine or coffee, read, take naps…while my brother likes to dig holes, build sand castles and explore. These accessories are the best for either type of coastal experience.
I hope this post was helpful as you pack your gear for the Oregon Coast! Check out my favorite Oregon Coast city in this Travel Guide to Pacific City, Oregon!
