Whether you’re planning your first trip to Scottsdale, or your fifth trip, there will always be an abundance of hotels to choose from! Scottsdale has some of the best hotels anywhere and it can be difficult to know how to choose the best hotel with so many options! Each time we travel to Scottsdale, we try to stay at a new hotel. This trip I decided to stay at the Westin Kierland as it was central to all the activities I wanted to partake in, and walking distance from shopping and dining. I love the Westin, but below is a roundup of the best hotels in Scottsdale, Arizona which I recommend whole-hearted!
When To Go To Scottsdale
The best time of the year is Spring or Fall. You’ll have the best weather, and it won’t be unbearably hot.
Getting Around Scottsdale
I’d suggest renting a car for your trip to Scottsdale, unless you plan on staying downtown and keeping within a close proximity of your resort. Otherwise, you’ll want to have a car as it’s pretty spread out and Ubers could get expensive.
Best Pool Resorts
These resorts are ideal for getaways with your significant other, friends and even your family. Each one of these resorts has an amazing pool as part of the hotel (some even have lazy rivers!), but also a separate adults-only pool onsite.
Westin Kierland Resort & Spa – located in the heart of “new” Scottsdale, Arizona. You will find a sense of old Arizona, but with a fresh, modern twist. The onsite spa is amazing, as is the pool. This place is great for families, couples, and even business. They even have activities for the kids every few hours at the pool to keep those littles busy and entertained. Lastly, I especially enjoy that you can easily walk from the resort to Kierland Commons (some of the best shopping and dining in the area!) within about 10 minutes.
JW Marriott Desert Ridge – located at the very North of Scottsdale, the Marriott Desert Ridge is a huge luxury property. I would say it’s more geared towards families than couples, but they have recently created a “adults only” section of the pool, which for a fee you can relax minus children. The resorts pool features a lazy river which kids and adults alike can grab a inner tube and float to their hearts content! Our favorite part of this hotel is the Griffin Club, which if you upgrade your room you’ll have exclusive access to breakfast, light bites during the day and appetizers in the club room throughout the day! The spa recently underwent a huge renovation and is quite enjoyable!
The Phoenician – One of my absolute favorite resorts – mostly for the outstanding service, phenomenal spa and the High Tea the property offers in their Tea Room. This is one resort I could check into and not leave for five days straight. We enjoyed all the onsite restaurants, the pool areas and the amenities. The newly renovated spa features 24 treatment rooms, a VIP suite, vitality pools and signature spa treatments, the spa offers the classic experience in relaxation and rejuvenation. Just make sure to head for poolside lunch and drinks prior to your treatment.
Andaz Scottsdale Resort – One of the newest hotels in the area, this Hyatt-owned resort is really beautiful and has picturesque views of Camelback Mountain. The pool is on the more intimate side, as is the hotel, and is more ideal for couples rather than families. From start to finish your experiences will be relaxing, restorative, and intimate. The hotel is modern, trendy and beautiful.
JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa – If you’re looking for a posh resort, with some old school history vibing through it, then this is your destination. Camelback Inn opened on December 15, 1936 with the slogan “Where Time Stands Still” and became an immediate success with glamorous movie stars and wealthy politicians. It’s ideal for couples or families, and has a onsite spa with a adults-only pool. The normal pool area even hosts kids activities throughout the day. Don’t worry! Adults can also participate! This luxurious adobe casita-style hotel will keep you coming back time and time again.
The Boulders Resort & Spa – One of the most unique settings in the desert, this resort is nestled in the tranquil beauty of the high Sonoran Desert foothills on 1,300 acres. Dramatic architecture blends with the surrounding desert and 12 million-year-old boulders formations. Combining world-class service, luxurious amenities, elegant accommodations, and Southwestern flair, this resort is ideal for a couples retreat or a getaway with girlfriends.
Royal Palms Resort and Spa in the Unbound Collection by Hyatt – Phoenix is a Hyatt-owned hotel and provides an engaging and unforgettable journey for all your senses. Originally built in 1929, this enchanting Spanish Mediterranean mansion offers 119 artfully appointed casitas, estate rooms and villas onsite. As you stroll through winding cobblestone pathways, you will discover romantic nooks, crackling fireplaces and splashing courtyard fountains. The onsite restaurants are delicious, the spa one-of-a-kind, this is one place you’ll keep coming back to over and over.
