It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of always packing a carry-on…but once my carry-on is up and stowed away, I am not going to start breaking into it. Today, I’m going to share with you what in-flight essentials I pack inside my large tote that also travels onto the plane with me. Whether for a long flight, or even a shorter one, these items are always neatly tucked inside my tote bag and are easily accessible anytime during my flight!
SUITCASE // TOTE // SHOES // JOGGERS // T-SHIRT // JEAN JACKET
TRAVEL TOTE
I love a good travel tote, and find that I use my Louis Vuitton pretty regularly. If I am not traveling with that tote, I’ll usually use this Mallory Tote, which has the dual straps and is perfect for over the shoulder or cross body. I also really love this Willow Tote which is gorgeous and could double down as a work bag.
COMBAT THE GERMS
Just thinking about all those germs circulating on the airplane totally freaks me out. Some might call me a germaphobe, but I call myself cautious! I want to stay as healthy as possible and keep my immune system in tip-top condition, and I’m not going to let germs bring me down! That’s why I always pack these wipes with me. As soon as I get to my seat, I wipe down the seat, the seat belt, the tray, the arms of the chair, if it’s going to touch me, I wipe it. You’ll thank me after you see how nasty that thing is when you’re done.
I also always make sure to load up my bag with Vitamin C Packs (which I take before leaving for the airport!) and an Airborne. I also never leave home without a pack of charcoal pills just in case something makes me start to feel funny.
COMPRESSION SOCKS
I kinda feel like a broken record.. but seriously people, no matter how old you are you should be wearing compression socks for every single flight! Yes, they look awful and are totally unstylish, but when you arrive with slim ankles to your destination and a decreased change of DVT, you can thank me later.
SNACKS
I’m a huge snacker. That’s why I always carry some single serving nuts and KIND granola bars with me wherever I go. I recently tried (and loved!) these RX Bars, they are SO good and they are filled with clean protein.
NOISE CANCELING HEADPHONES
I never travel without my noise canceling headphones. Tyler gave these to me for my birthday one year and I love them so much! I used to get horrible anxiety from all the various plane mechanical noises, but since I’ve been using these I have no problems whatsoever!
IPAD & BOOK
Planes these days are always all so different. I never know what kind of TV I’m going to have… will it be in my seat back? Will I even have one? That’s why I always travel with my fully charged IPad so I can just prop it up on the tray and watch or read whatever I want. I also usually travel with a motivational book as well to keep me occupied.
TRAVEL CHARGER
I have a few different chargers I travel with, but these two are my favorites! First, this one never dies! It is lightweight and delivers a charge quickly! The second charger I love is this travel charger which comes with all the cords I need hidden away. It’s roughly the size of my IPhone and is so easy to simply slip in my purse.
MEDICINE KIT
I do not go anywhere without this Traveler’s Medicine Kit and Charcoal Pills. The Medicine kit contains everything you might need from your at home medicine cabinet to help combat any ailment. When we were on a recent trip to Europe, I had a headache, but forgot my ibuprofen. We quickly figured out how difficult it was to find in Europe and wished we had had something like this that went everywhere with us! The charcoal pills are a natural binder in case you eat something that upsets your tummy.
LACROSSE BALL
Your hips don’t lie! My hips get so tight from sitting on airplanes that during layovers, or arrival, I will find a clear wall to lean up against and show my hips so therapeutic love with the lacrosse ball to help loosen them up!
LIP BALM & HAND LOTION
I picked this Burt’s Bees Travel Kit up off of Amazon a few years ago and absolutely LOVE IT. It has everything I could possibly need, lip balm, hand cream, hand salve, foot cream.. obviously, I will not be breaking out the foot cream mid-flight, but I regularly reapply hand cream and lip balm to keep hydrated.
WATER BOTTLE
The best thing you can do for your body during a flight is stay hydrated! I know how tempting those in-flight cocktails can be, especially when you’re on a long haul flight across the ocean… but don’t succumb! Stay as hydrated as possible during your flight. I always bring along my own water bottle which I fill right before I hope on my flight. This Hydroflask is one of my favorites and has the flip up lid and straw, but I also will occasionally bring this water bottle along.
I hope you enjoyed this round up of my in-flight essentials! If you’re itching to know how I pack my carry-on check out this guide! As always, safe travels!
