If you’re like me and from the Pacific Northwest, chances are you’ve been to Seattle many times and it never gets old. There is always something new to see, do, eat and experience! If you’re planning a trip, whether it be for the first time or the 50th, and wondering what to do… I’ve outlined the below weekend travel guide to Seattle, Washington so you can spend less time planning and more time enjoying!
Stay
One of my favorite hotels to adorn the downtown Seattle skyline is The Charter Hotel, Curio Collection Hotel and it’s only the second Curio Collection hotel in the Northwest (the second being The Porter Portland, Curio Collection by Hilton, which opened in April 2018).
The hotel itself is 16 floors, 229 guest rooms and has views of Elliot Bay throughout. You can enjoy spacious rooms with modern decor, plush robes and marble bathrooms, as well as an onsite gym and wellness center complete with a sauna, steam room and cold rain shower.
At the top of the hotel is an indoor-outdoor bar and lounge, called the Fog Room. It is perched high above the city and has some of the most epic water and mountain views! Clearly the perfect place to start or end your evening. They serve small bites, delicious craft cocktails and on the weekends they feature live music.
At the bottom of the hotel is the onsite restaurant called Patagōn and unlike most hotel restaurants, the food is pretty incredible. The menu is inspired by Pacific Northwest flavors and my personal favorite meal here was breakfast, everything was delicious, fresh cooked to perfection. You cannot go wrong.
Do
Starbucks Reserve Roastery Whether you’re a coffee aficionado, or you just love Starbucks, this place is truly an amazing experience and treat. Located in Seattle’s Capital Hill neighborhood, the Roastery is an easy walk from downtown and you should plan to come early, hungry and thirsty. You can completely customize your experience, whether you want to pop in and grab a bag of unique coffee, a to-go coffee and pastry on your way to work, or delve into the learning experience from start to finish.
Pike Place Market is a public market overlooking the Elliott Bay waterfront in Seattle, which originally opened August 17, 1907. Go early to beat crowds, grab a coffee and wander. There is plenty to see and it’s always entertaining.
Seattle Free Walking Tours has a couple of walking tours that can teach you about the history of the eclectic neighborhoods or show you Pike Place Market. Tours are offered daily, require advance reservations and are totally free. Just remember to tip your tour guide! This is the perfect way to learn the history behind the places you are seeing and to avoid missing any historical sights you’ve never seen before.
Lake Union Boat Cruise Always an unforgettable experience, Waterways Cruises hosts brunch, cocktail or dinner cruises and its launch dock is located minutes from downtown Seattle. An easy uber ride over, a Lake Union boat cruise will be one of the best experiences of your whole trip.
Seattle Great Wheel is a giant Ferris wheel at Pier 57 on Elliott Bay in Seattle, Washington and when it opened in 2012 it was the tallest Ferris wheel on the West Coast. It’s the perfect way to end a day of sight seeing.
Eat
Il Corvo Handmade, fresh-daily pasta at an affordable price, this little gem in Pioneer Square is only open for lunch (11 – 3 pm). Grab some friends, hop in line and await some of the best pasta and focaccia you’ve had in your life.
Taylor Shellfish With multiple spots around Seattle, you cannot miss stopping in for lunch, Happy Hour or dinner. With a focus on high quality, sustainable oysters and other shellfish, you can literally see which shellfish you will be eating right before it is shucked and prepared for you in minutes.
Sushi Kashiba Sushi Sensei Shiro Kashiba is back (after retiring and selling his first restaurant Shiro’s) and opened this perfect little spot inside the Inn At The Market. This will be some of the best sushi you’ve ever had, just make sure to make reservations ahead of time.
Enjoy your travels!
