As a kid growing up my parents favorite place to take us was the coast, and a trip to the coast was never complete without getting a scoop of ice cream on the way home. I still remember the first time we went to Tillamook Creamery, I could hardly wait to get out of the car once we parked. I could not believe that I was standing in front of the place that ALL the ice cream and all of the cheese in Oregon came from (in my kid brain, Tillamook cheese and ice cream was the only cheese and ice cream ever sold anywhere) and I was about to see it all be made. My mind was blown, I was giddy with excitement. Fast forward to our visit a few weeks ago, and that child-like excitement still bubbled up to the surface, except this time I was not only excited to eat fresh made ice cream, but also to see the recent remodel and take part in the new refreshed learning tour! Check out my guide below to visiting Tillamook Creamery in Oregon!

TOURING TILLAMOOK CREAMERY
Currently, to practice safe distancing, and limit the amount of people inside the building at one time, Tillamook Creamery has adopted a new online reservation system. You can find that here. First, you select your date and time online, then pay a $5 reservation fee which is then reimbursed to you to use towards any food, drink or gift shop items during your visit. It was quick, easy and fluid.
Once we arrived there were two lines. One for patrons which made their reservation, which was very short, and a second very long line for people who did not make an online reservation. We quickly got into the reservations line, masked up and entered the building. The floors were marked carefully to keep everyone moving in the same direction, 6 feet apart. Unfortunately, no cheese samples were being offered at this time, but that did not keep us from having a great tour and experience. We loved it! It was fun seeing the cheese be made and packed from the viewing deck, and the informational video was totally worth a watch!
After we took the tour we went downstairs, purchased a few of their aged Tillamook Maker’s Reserve cheeses (if you’ve never had these before, you must buy some and try them! They are AMAZING!) and then headed straight for the ice cream shop!
Now.. We had the most difficult time deciding between all the delicious flavors! There were so many to choose from.. but we finally threw caution to the wind and bought three, two-scoop cups (with the homemade waffle cone on top, of course!) and picked six different flavors: Caramel Toffee Crunch, Udderly Chocolate, Oregon Hazelnut Salted Caramel, Coffee Almond Fudge, Marionberry Pie and Birthday Cake (it even had sprinkles!). Once our ice creams were ready, we brought them outside to sit and enjoy the abundance of outdoor seating and sunshine! It was perfect!
