Tyler always gives me a hard time about how much I cram pack into my beach bag. He says he just “cannot possibly understand how one person could need all this stuff” for an afternoon at the beach or by the pool. Yet, once we arrive back to our hotel room in the late afternoon, every single item in my bag has been used, or at least needed! Today, I’m excited to share with you what’s in my beach bag whenever we go on vacation. Think of it as a little check list of the beach bag essentials!
What’s in my Beach Bag
Beach Bag – First things first, I love a nice sturdy beach bag and have found that my favorite beach bags came from Amazon! They are not too expensive and they hold up extremely well. I’ve linked my current bag here! Next, I always carry a Waterproof Zipper Bag within my beach bag. This is an essential since you’re at the beach and there’s a high probability of your beach bag getting wet! This is the one I have, which I love! It’s around $25 but it’s a great investment to keep this important items nice and dry!
Next, I always pack a good pair of sunnies with me. I’ve been really loving these Quay Sunglasses lately and they are even on sale! Once I’m at the beach, relaxing, I love to read a good book. One of my favorite books, that I could read over and over is Jen Sincero’s ‘You are a Badass’, it’s the perfect beach read!
Now, before I get settled, I slather myself in sunscreen. I’ve had skin cancer before…and it’s incredibly important to use sunscreen. Even daily! I really love this Bare Republic Sunscreen. In fact it’s Paraben Free / Non-GMO / Vegan and is a reef safe mineral sunscreen (which creates a physical barrier from the sun, rather than using chemicals to block the sun’s rays). If you’re a little bit of a health nut like I am, and like to avoid chemicals and junk then it’s an amazing sunscreen. However, it does leave a little bit of a white cast on your skin, so just be aware of that before purchasing and using!
If I decide to go for a dip in the ocean, or body surf a few waves, as soon as I am done for the day I will spray this Unite 7 Second Detangler Spray into my hair and brush it through with one of my mini Wet Brushes. That way, I don’t have to worry about my hair being an awful tangled mess later in the day and I’m technically conditioning it as I lay in the sun and dry off! Win/win!
Don’t forget to hydrate! I have a water bottle dedicated for the beach, it’s simple and inexpensive so that in case it gets damaged or I forget it, I’m not too upset! I love this water bottle from Target, and it’s only $5!

There are a few things in the beginning I would always forget to put in my beach bag! Like natural lip balm with sunscreen this EOS is my total favorite. It goes on smoothly and stays on my lips for hours, leaving them feel nice and hydrated. Speaking of SPF, don’t forget to put sunscreen on your face! I love this Aveeno Positively Mineral Sensitive SPF 50 Sunscreen, it’s goes on smooth and sinks into my skin really well.
Another thing I used to always forget was my beach towel! I found this cute one at Target for about $10, it’s adorable and I love the Flamingos! Another thing I found at Target was this super cute coverup, it’s a bit sheer but has great coverage.
The last thing we bring is a small bluetooth speaker! Tyler found this one recently for only $15. It fits perfectly into our waterproof bag and is great to sync our phones to and play our favorite tunes!
