Located north of Lincoln City, Oregon, Pacific City is the ideal spot for a weekend getaway. Whether you’re arriving from Eugene, Salem, Portland or other surrounding cities, the easiest way to arrive is by Highway 101 which leads thru Pacific City. Set back in a naturally protected cove-like extension of the Oregon coast, this area tends to be both warmer and less stormy than other parts of the coast- making it ideal for hiking, horseback riding, surfing, SUPing and walking the beach. It’s no wonder the secret seems to be out and this is quickly becoming one of the most popular destinations along the Oregon Coast. Enjoy this weekend getaway guide to Pacific City in Oregon where I share all my favorite Oregon coast beach hotels and restaurants!
Before meeting my husband, I had never been to Pacific City…however Tyler had been wanting to go and I’m always up for an adventure. It didn’t take long for me to fall hard for this idyllic little beach town that’s somehow managed to be forgotten (for the most part) by the masses. I can honestly say I wouldn’t have loved Pacific City as much as I did if it weren’t for all the various accommodation options, proximity to beach access, activities and tasty restaurants…all within walking distance of one another. Check out the best Oregon coast beach hotels below to begin your next adventure to Pacific City!
Stay
These are some of my favorite Pacific City OR Hotels.
Hart’s Camp – A community of beautiful Airstream trailers set in an awesome beach-y setting. Glamping at it’s finest! Not only is the concept of staying in a brand new Airstream cool, but so is everything else about the property. They have a fire pits, horse shoes, bicycles and picnic tables all available to use freely.
Inn at Cape Kiwanda – Directly across the street from the beach, every room has ocean views and a private balcony. Simply luxury, with complimentary beach chairs, towels, bicycles and welcome reception Fridays and Saturday evenings, this is a great spot to kick off your weekend.
Headlands Coastal Lodge and Spa – A coastal lodge set right along the beach. Each room features box seat views of Haystack Rock, a fireplace, private deck, and luxury amenities. The lodge itself has a spa, gym, yoga studio, restaurant and bar onsite. This spot is ideal for a romantic getaway or weekend adventure to the beach. We love their cottages that you can rent, they sit just alongside the hotel and offer the same amenities as the lodge, but are available with two and three bedrooms.
Kiwanda Coastal Properties – A rental company which specializes in oceanfront and ocean view homes in Pacific City and surrounding area, they offer over 50 homes on or near the beach at Cape Kiwanda. Their diverse portfolio of homes includes oceanfront luxury beach homes, affordable coastal cabins and rental homes for large groups. Bring the family!
Do
Tillamook Creamery – Fully open after completing a huge remodel. See in person how the famous factory makes their various cheeses and enjoy yummy samples while you learn. Don’t leave without a scoop of their delicious ice cream!
Jacobsen’s Salt Company – Check out where their salt is made along the Netarts Bay and enjoy a gorgeous drive.
Oysters – Don’t miss your opportunity to enjoy some of the best oysters you’ll have in your entire life. There are so many amazing options for enjoying oysters along this part of the coast. Our absolutely favorite is JAndy, a small business with its storefront in Tillamook. Stop by this location to pick up a variety of sizes of oysters, ranging from medium and extra small to jumbo by pre-order. They even have an oyster bar you can enjoy! See their website for specific times.
Hiking and Outdoor Rec – If you’re looking to get out and about into nature, this is my favorite website to plan our outdoor activities in the area. It also links to an events calendar, so you can keep up-to-date on upcoming events in the area that you might not want to miss!
Eat
Ben & Jeff’s Burgers and Tacos – Slightly unassuming, this is our favorite lunch spot in Pacific City. Get there early to avoid the line and order up at the window (try the Burrito Bowls!), make sure to grab a margarita or beer and sit enjoying the sound of the ocean.
Pelican Brewing Company – Our favorite part of the restaurant is the fire pit patio off the back. We always time our visit so we are finished with dinner right in time to grab another pint, the S’mores dessert and enjoy sunset while roasting our marshmallows. Perfection.
Meridian – A little more upscale, this is the perfect place to have it all. Not only is the service and views impeccable, the food, wine selection and scratch made cocktails really round out the entire experience. Make sure you make reservations!
The Riverhouse Nestucca – Set outside of the main beach front town, this quaint little house set along the river has excellent food and service! A must-stop during your weekend.
Enjoy your travels!
