July 6, 2023Roughly about two hours north of Phoenix, Sedona offers a gorgeous intersection of landscapes and elevation, with glowing red-rock formations and a mild climate. It’s easy to take day trips to and from the area, or even to the Grand Canyon, but I will be the first to tell you that once you arrive in Sedona, you will not want to leave. Whether you’re planning to visit for the nearby wine tasting, art, outdoor recreational activities like hiking or for the positive energy coming off the “vortexes,”, one thing is undeniable and that is the magical quality this little Arizona town holds. Use this guide to exploring some of the best wineries in Sedona Arizona to plan your next adventure!

Arrive
Fly into either Flagstaff, or Phoenix airport. Sedona does have it’s own airport, but it is private.
Additionally, the best time to visit Sedona is from March to May when the temperatures are warm, but not overly so. This season is especially perfect for hikers,, as desert flowers add a pop of color to the rust-colored trails. September to November is another nice time to visit, but expect cooler evenings. Lastly, Spring and fall are characterized by blue sunny skies and temps ranging from the mid-60s to the low 80s, however, you should keep in mind that this is the most popular times to visit and room rates will be more expensive!

If you’re looking to go wine tasting in Sedona, I recommend visiting the following wineries in and near Sedona wineries and keep in mind, there are also some wine bars in Sedona proper where you can enjoy flights of local wines!
Page Spring Cellars – Sample or savor Page Spring Cellars wines and spirits while enjoying their bistro menu in the tasting room, or explore Page Springs Cellars and bring a picnic to enjoy onsite and then stroll down to Oak creek and dip your feet in . They also even offer onsite yoga classes or massage (prebook!).
D.A. Ranch Lodge & Estate Vineyards – Established by the Petznick family in 2002, the D.A.Ranch is a boutique, family-owned estate vineyard, located in nearby Cornville, Arizona. The estate vineyards occupy seven acres and features varietals that thrive in the elevation and the high-desert climate. Favorites include Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Tannat and Seyval Blanc. The unique microclimate and terroir makes their 100% estate grown grapes and wines rich in minerals, earth and fruit characteristics.
Javelina Leap – Javelina Leap Vineyard Winery is a family operated, premium boutique winery with wines made from 100% Arizona-grown grapes. Their estate vineyard is located in northern Arizona’s historic Verde Valley in Page Springs/Cornville area and fairly near Sedona. Tasting prices are a bit high, but the wine is delicious.
Oak Creek Vineyards – is a pet friendly and family friendly boutique winery serving up delicious wines outside Sedona, Arizona! They specialize in crisp, clean white wines and smooth velvety reds from their Estate grown grapes which include the Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Syrah, Tempranillo and Merlot. Sit on their patio and enjoy a glass of wine, while overlooking the vineyard.
Alcantara Vineyards – Located near Enchantment Resort, Alcantara Vineyards offers a small, intimate tasting experience in a beautiful setting. The vineyard has over 20,000 vines and offers 17 different varietals. Relax, sip wine and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, which include vineyards, a grass picnic area, the Verde River and bald eagles flying overhead. They even offer kayaking & tubing trips down the Verde River, E-Bike tours of the vineyard, Jeep & Horseback tours of the vineyards.

Best Restaurants in Sedona
The Hudson – This place seems to always be packed with locals enjoying sophisticated and artfully presented comfort food. There’s a bustling bar, a lounge and an open dining room that’s perched high on the hillside so diners on the patio can enjoy gorgeous views of the canyon and rocks below.
Creekside Sedona – This cute little place sits overlooking Oak Creek, with one of the most beautiful Red Rock views in the whole area.
Saltrock Kitchen – Hidden away in the Amara Resort in Uptown Sedona, this high-end Mexican restaurant feels like an escape from the hustle and bustle of the town. With great views of Snoopy Rock, Camel Rock, and access to Oak Creek, this restaurant makes you feel like you’ve suddenly discovered a hidden oasis in the middle of the desert.
Hideaway House – This funky Italian-American food restaurant has three patios and two dining rooms spread out over two different levels, meaning you pretty much get an amazing view from wherever you’re sitting.

Definitely try some wine on your next trip! Most of the growing is done down south (near Tucson), but the wine is pretty good!
